Dec. 4, 5 and 6 - Carmine Sylos High School - Bitonto

On the three days dedicated to the literary event "6 in History," educator Marina Boetti will conduct the events, flanked by edu-actress Giulia Loglio who, during the three-day festival, will represent in the form of theatrical readings the stories of the books presented and in particular the life of the great astronomer "Hypatia" starting from the reflections of Dacia Maraini's book "In the Name of Hypatia."

The Six Works and Their Authors:

  1. "I was also on that train" by John Rinaldi.
    • A fascinating historical novel that reveals the true story of the "Trains of Happiness." Giovanni Rinaldi, an Italian historical expert and researcher, will share the extraordinary epic of the children who united Italy through an exciting journey.
  2. "If There Is Forgiveness" by Fabiano Massimi.
    • Based on true and fictional events, the book catapults us back to 1938 with the moving story of Sir Nicholas Winton attempting the miracle of saving Czechoslovakian children from the Nazi furor. Fabiano Massimi illuminates a dark page of history with the light of hope.
  3. "The Misstep" by Marina Morpurgo.
    • A historical and fiction novel that takes us to 1980s Sicily, exploring the story of two boys in love and their intertwined lives between 1943 and 1944. Marina Morpurgo offers a history lesson, showing how fate shapes the existences of victims and perpetrators.
  4. "Burqa Queen" by Barbara Schiavulli.
    • A journey to Afghanistan after the Taliban's reconquest, through the story of three women, Layla, Faruz and Farida. Schiavulli paints a picture of the challenges faced by these women as they try to survive in a world that has forgotten their struggle.
  5. "Stranizza" by Valerio La Martire.
    • Inspired by the true events of the Giarre crime in Sicily, Valerio La Martire offers us a story that oscillates between fiction and nonfiction. A tale about love and the blind and unmotivated hatred that arises from prejudice.
  6. "In the Name of Hypatia. Reflections on female destiny" by Dacia Mariani
    • An immersion in history through the eyes of the great astronomer Hypatia. The book inspires Giulia Loglio's theatrical reading, offering reflections on the role of women in history and a passionate denunciation against stereotypes and violence.
