Wise astronomer, mathematician and philosopher, energetic and charismatic teacher of free thought and coherence Hypatia is, even today, a fascinating example for those in search of truth and freedom with respect for all. In the monologue, Hypatia speaks to us from a non-place made of eternity and reflection from which she observes the world and its contradictions, telling her story in the first person. Through her words, the strength of a woman emerges who did not allow herself to be intimidated by anyone, not even the Christian Church, in that dark period that marked the transition between paganism and Christianity. Hypatia died free, strong in her ideas, a bursting strength born of respect for freedom and the belief that thought and knowledge are the only weapons to be used against human violence.
In the monologue, it emerges strongly how the story of Hypatia overlaps with disturbing similarity to recent history and , touching on such fundamental themes as human rights, racism, the violence of power, patriarchy, a direct invitation to deep reflection emerges and who knows, perhaps even to a new awareness. Because between resistance and resilience there is a huge difference, and today more than ever, it is necessary to return to thinking and resist in order to defend the hard-won rights and freedoms that the spread of single thinking threatens to erase.
